Jay Behar

 

Jay Behar, born to Ron and Gail (Calderon) Behar, is a Seattle native and 4th generation member of the Sephardic Bikur Holim. He earned his BA in economics at the University of Washington. He has worked in the furniture industry for more than 30 years, running the family retail business. Since 2019 he has been Executive Director of Pacific Furniture Dealers, a co-op organization that allows small retailers to buy furniture like a large chain operation. Jay is currently serving on the board of the Stroum Jewish Community Center and has participated in planning several events with the Jewish community, including Sephardic Day at the J and Talking About Israel in partnership with SBH. He, along with his wife, Michelle Hasson Behar, also a 4th generation member of the Sephardic Bikur Holim, have two amazing children, Lily and Aaron. Jay enjoys traveling, reading, playing tennis, spending time with family, and eating all Sephardic Foods, especially borekas and biscochos.
